This Chelsea chunky crochet cowl free pattern is one of my favourite pieces.

Aaaaw , I just love this yarn! SO soft on the skin, and for a cowl, it is definitely a must as it is in direct contact with the skin.

I crocheted it loosely and with a few rounds, this cowl makes use of two stitches, the single and double crochet, so beginners are right at home with this project.

this cowl is worked in a spiral format rather than the usual joining by slip stitches at the end of each row. To help you keep track of your rounds, stitch markers are highly recommended. A useful tip is to know that a sc is worked on a dc and vice versa.

To start you can use simple chains but I really love foundation single crochets. So if I start with fsc, the last row will be a sc row/round. This is not a must but I find it creates a balance. Just like in knitting a cowl, we would normally see a row of ribbing at the first few and last rows.
