Free Quick and Easy Crochet Granny Square Motif

This is a free quick and easy crochet granny square motif that uses three stitches, slip stitch, single crochet and the double crochet. this makes it perfect for the beginner.

I love granny squares first because they are s versatile and what you can make with them is always beautiful. They are a classic that every crocheter must have. Once you have mastered working in squares you can easily design your own motifs.

This motif can be used to make blankets, scarves, shawls or even beautiful tops ideally for summer. The possibilities are almost limitless.

Yarn: Stylecraft DK Aster 100g, 100% Acrylic (Aster and sunshine shades)

Hook: 4.5m

Finished measurement: 5.5 inches square

Gauge is not important for this project

ch- chain

sl st – slip stitch

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

nxt – next

rep – repeat



Steps to make the free quick and easy granny square motif

create magic ring or ch3 sl st to form loop or your favourite method

R1: work 12 dc into ring, join with sl st to form circle ch 3 (counts as dc)

R2: work 2dc into each dc, join to form circle (24 dc)
