This easy beginner crochet griddle stitch hat is a super easy crochet pattern for a beginner.

It uses only two stitches the single and double crochet. This is worked in rounds until the desired height is reached then the ends are cinched to form the crown. This means no need to worry about decreasing stitches when making the crown.

The Griddle stitch is made of the single and double crochet. I love it because it creates a lovely texture that looks complex.

Since this pattern is easy, it makes it an ideal last minute gift. It works up faster if you use chunkier yarn and a larger hook but you would need to check your gauge first.

Abbreviations used in the pattern

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

st – stitch
