This blues beginner scarf pattern is a very simple pattern for the beginner who has learnt the basics but is yet to take on a big (okay relatively big project). It is simply one row repeat, how easier could that be?

Since I used two strands, I chose a slightly larger hook so that I would create a loose scarf, one with a lovely drape around my neck.

Although I used acrylic yarn, this scarf is still a soft piece. It is also very warm and light to carry.

I experimented with mixing different shades of blue to create a variegated effect and I think I loved the outcome. After all isn’t that what crochet is all about? expressing our creativity and experimenting? ahaha.

You could do this with left over yarn that you’re not sure what to do with? perhaps?

Step by step instructions to make the blues beginner scarf

I did not start rows with the usual chain 3 because I loved the scalloped edging that the lack of the ch 3 created. See image above.

This scarf is crocheted using two strands. the first half is made using yarn colour A and B and the remaining half using yarn A and C held together. This creates the variegated effect.
